Are you paying the right price for your French EPR representative?

Paste in what your mandataire REP charges you, per stream, and we benchmark it instantly against our published volume-tier pricing and the documented 2026 market ranges. No email, no data leaves your browser, and the tool tells you when your quote is competitive, not only when it is high.

Step 1

Which streams does your quote cover?

Select every EPR stream your current (or proposed) representative fee covers. Not sure which apply? Run the scope check.

How to read a French EPR quote

Most quotes blur three very different cost layers into one number. Pull them apart before you compare anything:

  1. The authorized representative fee. The recurring service charge your mandataire bills for holding the SYDEREP record, filing declarations and handling eco-organism communications. This is the only layer that genuinely differs between providers, and the only one this tool benchmarks.
  2. The eco-organism membership floor. A small annual minimum charged by the eco-organism itself (Citeo €80, Refashion €120, Ecomaison €60 + €50 one-off, Valobat €80…). Roughly the same whoever your representative is.
  3. The eco-contribution. The regulated amount owed to the eco-organism on your declared tonnage, broadly €0.10–€2.00/kg of material. It should be passed through at cost. A markup or an opaque bundle here is the single most common way providers inflate a quote.

What a fair representative fee looks like in 2026

We publish our per-stream volume-tier pricing in full, so it can be used as a reference point even if you never become a client:

  • Light tier: €588–€1,788/year/stream, for small producers under the eco-organism simplified regimes.
  • Standard tier: €2,388–€4,308/year/stream, the mid-market sweet spot, with a −10% to −20% multi-stream discount.
  • Volume tier: €4,188–€7,188/year/stream, high-volume single-segment producers.

Against that, opaque providers quote €3,500–€8,000/year/stream for the same work, per our open market benchmark. The tool above places your quote on this scale and shows the annual and three-year gap, if any.

Red flags worth catching before you renew

  • Eco-contribution markup. A percentage added on top of the regulated eco-contribution. There is no service justification for it.
  • Bundled, unitemised invoice. If you cannot see the representative fee, the membership and the eco-contribution as separate lines, you cannot tell what you are paying for.
  • Per-SKU surcharges. A fee that scales with your catalogue size rather than your declared volume tier.
  • Second-year escalation. A low year-one price that jumps 40–60% at renewal once a hidden volume tier kicks in.
  • Pre-EcoDDS contract language. A 2026 mandate still referencing subrogation, annulled by the Conseil d’État in November 2023.

How this tool works

The analyzer runs entirely in your browser. It maps your declared volume to the correct tier (Light, Standard or Volume) per filière, looks up our published price for that tier, and compares your fee against it and against the documented opaque-market range. It never sends your figures anywhere and never compares against unverifiable claims about named competitors. For a precise quote on your own scope, use the cost calculator; to see how the whole provider market is structured, read the provider comparison guide and the named-provider comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am overpaying for my French EPR representative?

Separate the three layers of your cost. (1) The authorized representative (mandataire) fee, the recurring service charge, this is the line you can actually shop. (2) The eco-organism membership floor (Citeo €80, Refashion €120, Ecomaison €60, etc.). (3) The eco-contribution, a regulated amount owed to the eco-organism on your declared tonnage, which should be passed through at cost. Our quote-check tool compares only the representative fee against our published volume-tier pricing and the €3,500–€8,000/stream range we document for opaque providers. If your fee is above that range for your scope, you are very likely overpaying.

What is a fair price for a French EPR authorized representative in 2026?

For a single stream, our published volume-tier pricing runs €588–€1,788/year (Light), €2,388–€4,308/year (Standard) and €4,188–€7,188/year (Volume), depending on the filière. Opaque providers typically quote €3,500–€8,000/year per stream for the same scope (see our open market benchmark). The eco-contribution is separate and variable (roughly €0.10–€2.00/kg of declared material). A fair representative fee is one that maps to your declared volume tier and does not mark up the eco-contribution.

Should the eco-contribution be included in my representative fee?

No. The eco-contribution is the regulated amount the eco-organism charges on your declared tonnage to fund recycling. It should appear as a separate, pass-through line, billed by the eco-organism directly, or passed through by your representative at cost. A provider that bundles it with no breakdown, or adds a percentage markup on top of it, is a documented red flag. We never mark up the eco-contribution.

Is this quote-check tool biased because you are also a provider?

We benchmark your figures against numbers we publish openly (our per-stream volume-tier pricing at /pricing) and the ranges in our CC BY 4.0 market benchmark. We never compare against unverifiable claims about other named providers. The tool runs entirely in your browser, collects no email, and tells you when your quote is competitive, not only when it is high. You can verify every reference number yourself.

What should I do if the tool says I am overpaying?

First, ask your current provider for an itemised invoice that separates the representative fee, the eco-organism membership, and the eco-contribution. Second, get a written comparison quote, you can forward your existing quote to us and we will read it and return a comparable offer on published volume-tier pricing within one business day. Switching representative does not lose your IDU; it stays attached to you, the producer. The transition takes 2–4 weeks with zero marketplace disruption.

Does a lower representative fee mean a lower total cost?

Not always, which is why this tool isolates the representative fee. Your total annual cost is the representative fee + eco-organism membership + eco-contribution. The eco-contribution is the same regulated amount whoever your representative is (assuming no markup), so the representative fee is the only layer where providers genuinely differ. A transparent, volume-tier representative fee with a pass-through eco-contribution is the lowest-total-cost structure.
