Furniture (DEA)
Required for any item of furniture, mattress or bedding shipped to French consumers, plus most home decor.
A France-established representative is now compulsory for furniture.
Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environment Code, created by law n° 2026-602 of 8 July 2026, requires any person subject to French EPR without an establishment in France to appoint a representative established in France by written mandate, and subrogates that representative into the obligations for which it accepts the mandate. The rule is horizontal: it applies to furniture exactly as it applies to the other French streams, and it does not depend on the PPWR.
The test is establishment in France, not nationality, so a producer based elsewhere in the European Union is covered on the same terms as one based outside it. Within the scope and duration of the mandate we carry the furniture obligations; you keep producer status, answer for the accuracy of the data you give us, and remain responsible for any period before the mandate took effect. Read the full breakdown of the statute, including what to do if you already hold a Ecomaison membership with no representative on the file.
A fixed annual fee, stated in writing before you commit.
Per stream, for producers under the eco-organism flat-fee regime. Your exact fee depends on this stream's declarative regime and your number of product references, never on sales volume.
The quote states the fixed annual fee for furniture, the one-time setup for the stream and the refundable security deposit. For the twelve months it covers, the number you sign is the number you pay.
Ecomaison, Valdelia, Valobat set your eco-contributions at their published barème rates. They stay separate from our fee and we take no percentage on them: we prepare and file the declarations that drive them, and help you optimise them.

These are the Ecomaison / Valdelia / Valobat eco-contributions (per item (by weight and majority material)), set on the eco-organism's published barème and separate from our mandataire fee. Indicative highlights from the official 2026 barème.
Bonuses for certified sustainable wood, recyclability and durability (spare-parts availability), plus a recycled-content (IMR) bonus; penalty for recycling disruptors.
Small-producer forfait for < 15 t and < 1,000 pieces/yr. Governing text: arrêté of 12 October 2023 (EA). We file the declarations that determine this eco-contribution. It stays separate from our fee, we take no percentage on it, and we help you optimise it.

How this stream works in France.
The EA / DEA stream (éléments d ameublement) covers domestic and professional furniture, mattresses, sofas, chairs, bedding, tables, storage units, and most loose home decor with a structural function. Three eco-organisms are approved: Ecomaison (mostly domestic), Valdelia (mostly professional) and Valobat. The scope was widened in 2023 to capture additional categories.

Frequently asked questions
- Who is liable for the Furniture (DEA) stream?
- The first company placing these products on the French market, with no revenue or volume threshold. Furniture and home brands with no French establishment, EU or non-EU, shipping or fulfilling into France. A producer with no French establishment must appoint a mandataire, compulsory since 10 July 2026.
- Which eco-organism covers Furniture (DEA)?
- Ecomaison, Valdelia and Valobat are state-accredited for this stream. Joining any one of them satisfies the obligation; they differ on the published schedule and the declaration format, not on the legal cover. ADEME then publishes the IDU within 2 to 3 weeks.
- What does the Furniture (DEA) stream cost?
- The eco-contribution follows the eco-organism's published schedule and depends on the volumes you declare, so it is specific to your catalogue. Our fee is separate: a published entry price of EUR 190 per year excluding VAT per stream, with the exact figure fixed in a written quote within one business day.
- Do I still declare in a year with no sales?
- Yes. The membership stays active and the declaration is filed at zero. Cancelling without ending the activity carries the same exposure as never registering: the IDU is removed from the SYDEREP register, and marketplaces that query it continuously delist accordingly.
