Batribox (ex-Screlec) is an approved French eco-organism for portable batteries and accumulators. Its current agrément follows the arrêté of 27 March 2025. The other approved eco-organisation for portable batteries is Ecosystem.
Batribox runs a collection network of drop-off boxes in shops, workplaces and public sites for used portable batteries, then channels them to sorting and recycling by chemistry. Producers adhere, declare the batteries they place on the French market (standalone or embedded in equipment), and pay an eco-contribution per chemistry.
Any company placing portable batteries on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU, and whether the batteries are sold on their own (a pack of AAs) or embedded in a product (a wireless mouse, a vape, a power tool). The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.

What we do for the Batribox stream specifically.
You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. For portable batteries we register clients with Ecosystem. If Batribox is the better fit for your chemistries, we confirm availability with your quote. At Batribox the identifier comes with access to the Batriweb portal, and the declaration is annual.

- Who has to join Batribox?
- Any producer placing products covered by Portable batteries and accumulators on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.
- Can I join Batribox without a French company?
- Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. For Batribox, we confirm availability with your quote.
- What does Batribox membership cost?
- Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows Batribox's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.
- Is Batribox the only option?
- No. On Portable batteries and accumulators, Ecosystem is also state-accredited. Joining any one of them satisfies the obligation, and the choice belongs to the producer. They differ on their published schedule, their declaration format and their eco-modulations, not on the legal cover they provide.
- When do I declare to Batribox, and for which years?
- The Batribox declaration is annual, on the Batriweb portal.
