Any producer placing products covered by Chemical products (DDS) on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.

Can I join Ecopae without a French company?

Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. For Ecopae, we confirm availability with your quote.

What does Ecopae membership cost?

Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows Ecopae's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.

Is Ecopae the only option?

No. On Chemical products (DDS), EcoDDS and Pyréo are also state-accredited. Joining any one of them satisfies the obligation, and the choice belongs to the producer. They differ on their published schedule, their declaration format and their eco-modulations, not on the legal cover they provide.

Ecopae is the approved French eco-organism for portable fire extinguishers, which fall under category 2 of the chemical products (PCHIM) stream. It organises the take-back and safe treatment of end-of-life extinguishers and their contents.

What Ecopae does, fig. 02

Ecopae sets up collection and processing for used portable fire extinguishers, whose pressurised bodies and extinguishing agents require specialised handling. Producers adhere, declare the extinguishers they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the recovery scheme.

Who must register, fig. 03

Any company placing portable fire extinguishers on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU. Manufacturers, importers and brand owners are all in scope. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.

What we do for the Ecopae stream specifically.

You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. For portable fire extinguishers, we prepare and file the Ecopae declarations; the eco-contribution is set on its published schedule, and we take no percentage on it. We currently register clients with Citeo, Léko and Léko Pro, Ecosystem (electrical equipment, lamps, batteries), Twiice, Refashion, Ecomaison and Valobat. For the other approved eco-organisations, we confirm availability with your quote.
