Cdiscount flagged your EPR.
Here is the fastest legal path back online.

Eight minute read. Last updated 15 May 2026.

Cdiscount is the second-largest French marketplace and runs a stricter EPR verification than Amazon. Where Amazon batches its enforcement waves, Cdiscount checks at three moments: when you create a new listing, when you submit a quarterly catalog refresh, and at random audits during your seller tenure. A single missing IDU on a covered stream is enough to freeze your entire seller account, not just the affected listings.

The verification is real-time against the ADEME SYDEREP registry. Cdiscount queries SYDEREP with the IDU you provide and checks three things in sequence: the IDU exists, it belongs to your declared legal entity (name match with their KYC), and the stream listed matches the product category you sell in. If any of the three fails, the system rejects the filing with a short error code that almost never explains what went wrong.

Article L. 541-10-9 of the French Environment Code makes the marketplace operator jointly liable for ensuring that any third-party seller using its platform holds a valid EPR registration. Failure to do so exposes Cdiscount itself to fines of up to €30,000 per non-compliant product family placed on the market through its interface. The platform passes that risk straight back to the seller via its general conditions.

This is not a Cdiscount-specific rule. The same article applies to Amazon France , Fnac, Darty, ManoMano and any other marketplace serving French consumers. Cdiscount enforces earliest and most aggressively because its compliance team audits in real time, while others batch-audit on a quarterly cadence.

The 5 reasons Cdiscount rejected your filing

1. Legal name mismatch

By far the most common cause. The IDU is registered in SYDEREP under your exact legal name as filed with the eco-organism. If your Cdiscount account shows “Acme Inc.” but SYDEREP lists “ACME INCORPORATED”, the string comparison fails. Fix: update either side so the names match character for character — typically you update Cdiscount’s seller info because changing the SYDEREP record is slower.

2. Stream not covered

You uploaded a packaging IDU but the listing also contains a battery (a flashlight, a wireless mouse, a Bluetooth speaker). Cdiscount detects this from the product taxonomy and demands the corresponding battery IDU. The same applies to WEEE for any electronics, textile for any soft goods, furniture for anything with declared furniture characteristics. Fix: file a second IDU on the missing stream — not the same as updating an existing one.

3. IDU not yet published on SYDEREP

The eco-organism confirms your registration by email, but the IDU does not appear on the public SYDEREP teleservice until ADEME completes its weekly batch import. Gap is typically 5 to 10 business days. Uploading the IDU to Cdiscount during this window fails because the live SYDEREP query returns nothing. Fix: wait for the SYDEREP publication confirmation before submitting to Cdiscount. You can verify the IDU status yourself at syderep.ademe.fr.

4. Cdiscount Pro vs Cdiscount confusion

Cdiscount Pro is the B2B-only platform shipping to professional buyers. Some EPR streams differ: B2C household packaging (Citeo) is not the right scope — you need EPRO, the professional packaging stream operated by Citeo Pro. If you uploaded a Citeo IDU to a Cdiscount Pro account, the verification will fail even though the eco-organism family looks identical.

5. Representative mismatch

Non-EU sellers register through an authorized representative. SYDEREP records the representative’s name in the IDU dossier. Cdiscount sometimes asks for the representative’s SIRET (the French business ID) alongside the IDU. If your representative changed (rare but it happens during transitions), or if you uploaded the wrong SIRET, the check fails. Fix: confirm the representative on file with the eco-organism and use that exact SIRET.

The 10-day recovery playbook

Cdiscount typically gives you a 30-day window before fully suspending the account (vs Amazon’s 7 to 30). Within that window, here is the fastest path back.

Day 0 — Read the rejection carefully

Note the exact error code (Cdiscount uses EC-1 to EC-9). Save the email as PDF.

Day 1 — Map streams to products

Audit your catalog against the 10 EPR streams. Most non-EU sellers underestimate this and file 1 IDU when they need 3.

Day 2-3 — Engage an authorized representative

Non-EU producers cannot file directly. The mandate signs same-day (electronic, no notary).

Day 3-7 — Eco-organism filings

One per stream. Citeo for packaging, Refashion for textile, Ecosystem for WEEE, Corepile for batteries.

Day 7-12 — SYDEREP publishes IDUs

Wait for the public registry confirmation. Verify each IDU at syderep.ademe.fr.

Day 12 — Upload to Cdiscount

In Seller Zone → Mon compte → Conformité environnementale. Paste IDU per stream. Account unlocks in 24 to 48 hours.

Cdiscount Pro: the B2B special case

If you sell to French businesses through Cdiscount Pro, the household packaging IDU (Citeo) is not enough. Cdiscount Pro verifies the EPRO stream separately — emballages professionnels, operated by Citeo Pro. Filing is identical (same eco-organism family, separate dossier) but the IDU prefix differs. Sellers regularly miss this and end up suspended twice in a row on the B2C and B2B verticals.

If your catalog mixes B2C and B2B shipments through Cdiscount, you almost certainly need both Citeo (household) and EPRO (professional) IDUs. The Cdiscount platform routes orders to the right vertical automatically, but the EPR verification checks both.

Prevention next time

Once cleared, Cdiscount will re-audit your account every quarter. Two operational habits prevent another suspension. First, declare new SKU categories within 30 days of launch — Cdiscount cross-checks your catalog against your declared streams. Second, file the annual eco-contribution declaration with each eco-organism on time. A late declaration revokes the IDU from SYDEREP, which Cdiscount sees within the same week.
