Amazon France EPR suspension:
how to get unblocked in days, not weeks.

Six minute read. Last updated 21 May 2026.

Amazon France systematically deactivates seller listings missing a French EPR registration number (IDU). The trigger is article L. 541-10-9 of the French Environment Code, which makes marketplaces liable for verifying that third-party sellers meet their EPR obligations. The platform applies the rule indistinctly to US, UK, Chinese, and other non-EU sellers, regardless of marketplace tenure or sales volume.

The suspension notice typically lands in your Seller Central inbox as “Action required: French EPR compliance.” You get between 7 and 30 days to provide an IDU for each affected EPR stream, after which your ASINs go inactive. Active inventory sitting in French FBA warehouses continues to incur storage fees, obviously without sales to offset them.

Read the notice before you act

Amazon’s notice will list the streams it has detected: packaging is the most common, often followed by WEEE (any electronics), batteries, textile, or furniture. Match each stream listed in the notice against your actual product catalog. Sometimes Amazon over-flags (e.g., asking for a furniture IDU on a decorative pillow that is not actually classed as furniture).

Save the notice as PDF. Note the case ID. These will go into your follow-up email to Amazon once your IDU is ready, so they can match the file faster.

The 5-day playbook

  1. Day 1. Apply through our get-registered form and mark your marketplace status as “already suspended.” Attach the Amazon notice. We move your file to priority queue.
  2. Day 1 to 2. Written scope and quote back to you within 24 hours. Mandate signed electronically. Adherence to the relevant eco-organisms (Citeo for packaging, Ecosystem for WEEE, etc.) initiated the same day.
  3. Day 2 to 4. Proof of registration (sometimes called “accusé de réception d’adhésion”) issued by the eco-organism. This document, in French, suffices for most marketplaces to lift the hold while waiting for the formal IDU.
  4. Day 4 to 5. We email the proof to Seller Central case ID, including the original notice reference. Amazon typically restores listings within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the document.
  5. Week 2 to 3. Final IDU number issued by ADEME via SYDEREP. We update Seller Central with the IDU. Your file is permanently compliant.

How to submit the document inside Seller Central

In Seller Central, go to Compliance > Extended Producer Responsibility. Add one entry per stream Amazon flagged. For each entry:

  • Country: France
  • Producer name: your legal company name (the one signing the mandate)
  • EPR registration number: the IDU we provide
  • Authorized representative: our French entity (we send you the exact wording)

Amazon validates entries asynchronously, usually within 24 hours. Once the status shows “Compliant,” the suspended ASINs return to active.

Prevention for next time

Amazon enforces stream by stream. If you launch a new product category, the cycle restarts: a packaged toy triggers both packaging and toys. Coordinate category launches with your representative ahead of time, not after the suspension notice lands.

Keep an eye on ManoMano, Cdiscount, and TikTok Shop, which apply similar verification under L. 541-10-9. They are less aggressive than Amazon FR but the rule is identical.

Already suspended

Apply now with “already suspended” status. We prioritise the file.
