Who has to join APER?

Any producer placing products covered by Pleasure and sport boats (BPS) on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.

Can I join APER without a French company?

Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. For APER, we confirm availability with your quote.

What does APER membership cost?

Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows APER's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.

APER is the approved French eco-organism for end-of-life pleasure and sport boats (bateaux de plaisance ou de sport, BPS). Its agrément follows the arrêté of 6 December 2023, and it organises the dismantling and recycling of retired boats.

What APER does, fig. 02

APER manages the collection, deconstruction and recycling of end-of-life recreational boats through a network of approved dismantling centres, at no direct cost to the last owner. Producers adhere, declare the boats they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the scheme.

Who must register, fig. 03

Any company placing pleasure or sport boats on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU: boat builders, importers and brand owners of sailing and motor craft. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.

What we do for the APER stream specifically.

You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. For pleasure and sport boats, we prepare and file the APER declarations; the eco-contribution is set on its published schedule, and we take no percentage on it. We currently register clients with Citeo, Léko and Léko Pro, Ecosystem (electrical equipment, lamps, batteries), Twiice, Refashion, Ecomaison and Valobat. For the other approved eco-organisations, we confirm availability with your quote.
