APER
APER (Association pour la Plaisance Éco-Responsable)
APER is the approved French eco-organism for end-of-life pleasure and sport boats (bateaux de plaisance ou de sport, BPS). Its agrément follows the arrêté of 6 December 2023, and it organises the dismantling and recycling of retired boats.
APER manages the collection, deconstruction and recycling of end-of-life recreational boats through a network of approved dismantling centres, at no direct cost to the last owner. Producers adhere, declare the boats they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the scheme.
Any company placing pleasure or sport boats on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU: boat builders, importers and brand owners of sailing and motor craft. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.
We act as your French authorized representative under Article 8a §5 of Directive 2008/98/EC for the boats (BPS) stream. We sign the APER adherence on your behalf, obtain your IDU through ADEME SYDEREP, file the declarations and pay the eco-contribution. You stay the producer; we handle the paperwork.
