Cyclamed is the approved French eco-organism for unused and expired medicines (médicaments non utilisés, MNU), collected through the pharmacy network. It operates under the cahier des charges set by the arrêté of 29 October 2021.
Cyclamed organises the return of leftover household medicines to pharmacies, which pass them on for secure destruction with energy recovery, keeping medicines out of household bins and the water cycle. Producers of medicines adhere, declare the volumes they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the scheme.
Any company placing human medicines on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU. Pharmaceutical laboratories, generics producers and importers of medicinal products are in scope. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.

What we do for the Cyclamed stream specifically.
You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. For medicines, we prepare and file the Cyclamed declarations; the eco-contribution is set on its published schedule, and we take no percentage on it. We currently register clients with Citeo, Léko and Léko Pro, Ecosystem (electrical equipment, lamps, batteries), Twiice, Refashion, Ecomaison and Valobat. For the other approved eco-organisations, we confirm availability with your quote.

- Who has to join Cyclamed?
- Any producer placing products covered by Unused medicines (MNU) on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.
- Can I join Cyclamed without a French company?
- Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. For Cyclamed, we confirm availability with your quote.
- What does Cyclamed membership cost?
- Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows Cyclamed's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.
