DASTRI is the sole approved French eco-organism for self-care perforating medical waste (DASRI): the needles, lancets and syringes used by patients treating themselves at home. It operates under the cahier des charges set by the arrêté of 2 November 2022.
DASTRI distributes free sharps containers through pharmacies and organises their collection and destruction so that used needles do not end up in household waste. Producers of self-treatment devices and their associated medicines adhere, declare the perforating products they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the scheme.
Any company placing self-care perforating medical devices, or medicines used with such devices, on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU: insulin pens and needles, lancets, pre-filled syringes and comparable products. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.

What we do for the DASTRI stream specifically.
You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. For self-care sharps, we prepare and file the DASTRI declarations; the contribution is set on its published schedule, and we take no percentage on it. We currently register clients with Citeo, Léko and Léko Pro, Ecosystem (electrical equipment, lamps, batteries), Twiice, Refashion, Ecomaison and Valobat. For the other approved eco-organisations, we confirm availability with your quote.

- Who has to join DASTRI?
- Any producer placing products covered by Self-care medical sharps (DASRI) on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.
- Can I join DASTRI without a French company?
- Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. For DASTRI, we confirm availability with your quote.
- What does DASTRI membership cost?
- Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows DASTRI's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.
