DASTRI
DASTRI is the sole approved French eco-organism for self-care perforating medical waste (DASRI): the needles, lancets and syringes used by patients treating themselves at home. It operates under the cahier des charges set by the arrêté of 2 November 2022.
DASTRI distributes free sharps containers through pharmacies and organises their collection and destruction so that used needles do not end up in household waste. Producers of self-treatment devices and their associated medicines adhere, declare the perforating products they place on the French market, and pay an eco-contribution funding the scheme.
Any company placing self-care perforating medical devices, or medicines used with such devices, on the French market, whether established in France, elsewhere in the EU, or outside the EU: insulin pens and needles, lancets, pre-filled syringes and comparable products. The trigger is the first placement on the French market, not the seller location.
We act as your French authorized representative under Article 8a §5 of Directive 2008/98/EC for the medical-sharps (DASRI) stream. We sign the DASTRI adherence on your behalf, obtain your IDU through ADEME SYDEREP, file the declarations and pay the eco-contribution. You stay the producer; we handle the paperwork.
