Valobat is the main eco-organism for the PMCB stream (Products and Materials of the Building sector), introduced in France on 1 January 2023, and is also approved for furniture and for DIY and garden articles.
Valobat collects and recycles construction waste from buildings: insulation, plasterboard, wood panels, flooring, tiles. Producers contribute by category and tonnage put on the French market. The scheme is the youngest and most rapidly evolving in France.

What we do for the Valobat stream specifically.
You remain the producer. Under the written mandate required by Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code, we take charge of and answer for your registration, your identifier, your declarations, the exchanges with the eco-organisation and audits, and the archiving of your files. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. Valobat is operational with us for furniture, DIY and garden categories 3 and 4, and construction products; retroactivity cannot go back before 1 January 2024 for furniture and DIY, 1 January 2023 for construction products. We track the scale as it evolves and handle the segregation of inert versus non-inert materials in the declaration.

- Who has to join Valobat?
- Any producer placing products covered by Furniture (DEA), Sports, DIY and garden articles and Construction products and materials (PMCB) on the French market, whatever the country it is established in, with no minimum volume. The producer is the first company placing the goods on that market: for a distance sale to a French consumer, that is the seller, not the carrier and not the marketplace.
- Can I join Valobat without a French company?
- Not directly. A producer with no establishment in France must appoint a representative established in France, compulsory since 10 July 2026 under Article L. 541-10-9-1 of the French Environmental Code. The representative signs the membership in the producer's name.
- What does Valobat membership cost?
- Two separate amounts. The membership fee runs from EUR 0 to 450 a year depending on the stream. The eco-contribution depends on what you place on the market and follows Valobat's published schedule. Your eco-contributions stay invoiced to you and paid by you directly to the eco-organisation. We take no percentage and no margin on either of them.
- Is Valobat the only option?
- No. On Furniture (DEA), Sports, DIY and garden articles and Construction products and materials (PMCB), Ecologic, Ecomaison, Valdelia and Ecominéro are also state-accredited. Joining any one of them satisfies the obligation, and the choice belongs to the producer. They differ on their published schedule, their declaration format and their eco-modulations, not on the legal cover they provide.
- When do I declare to Valobat, and for which years?
- Valobat can claim contributions for earlier years: up to three years. Retroactivity cannot go back before 1 January 2024 for furniture and DIY, 1 January 2023 for construction products. Identifiers are never backdated.
